Hockey and Halloween...

This weekend was jam-packed full of stuff to do! It started with a Halloween party on Friday night which our Finnish flatmates took us to. It was a laugh, Johnny and I dressing up as devils - complete with tails and taking in the other costumes.

It seems that Halloween over here is just an excuse to dress up as anything you want - not even just the typical witches and monsters - we saw doctors, nurses, french maids, the Scooby-Doo Crew, and tonnes more costumes that seemed very unrelated to Halloween!

Although they are apparently illegal over here, Halloween is also when all the fireworks are set off (they don't celebrate Guy Fawkes night - that's a British thing) and we have been hearing and seeing fireworks all over the city for the last week or so, especially Halloween night.

On Saturday we got up quite early and went shopping before Johnny's first Hockey game over here! It was against a team called the 'Three Rock Rovers' and took place on Three Rock's turf in Rathfarnham. I managed to squeeze in the car with some of Johnny's team and went along to cheer and take photos (which you can see
here
). The Hockey clubs are all quite nice over here with a lovely warm clubhouse and bar to sit and watch the match from. Despite this, I stood outside in the cold for much of the game to get better photos and cheer. Unfortunately, Johnny's team (the Pembroke Wanderers) lost their match 3 - 1 but it was a good game.

On Sunday we had the Nix's over for an 'Asian-style' lunch with fried rice, Dim Sums, and rice balls. It was fun to see them try the foods that they had never tried before and their reactions - both good and bad!

After they left, Johnny and I went to see a movie ('Alien vs. Predator' - seeing as we have a monthly unlimited card we can see all these crap movies and not worry about wasting our money!) and popped into the Netball Dublin Halloween party at the Outback Bar for a quick drink.

Oh yeah and our clocks went back one hour this weekend so we are now 13 hours behind New Zealand! Man!
