Drama Drama Drama!
Man! Big happenings over here in my life in the last week! It has been crazy!
It started on the Thursday before I left work for Amsterdam when I had a big fight with my boss. He chose 3pm (I was leaving at 3.30pm) to talk to me about my work performance. He told me that he wasn't happy with my work output and that arriving at 9am, leaving at 5.30pm and taking my 1 hour lunch break (the hours I am supposed to work) wasn't good enough - that "work is more important than that". He complained about me taking my annual leave (which I had cleared with him weeks ago) and said that if it was him leaving at 3.30pm, he would have got in that morning at 7am. When I pointed out that he and I had arranged that I would work through my lunch hours on the Wednesday and Thursday so that I could leave early, he said "big deal!" and told me not to make a big deal out of working through my lunch hour. He also then started telling me that because he paid me he could make me work over Christmas if he wanted so maybe if I annoyed him enough he would! It was ridiculous! But I realised that I would be leaving soon so we decided to continue the conversation on Tuesday when I got back to work.
However, on Monday night I switched off my phone to fly back to Dublin and when I switched it back on in Dublin airport, I received a voicemail message: "This is James speaking. I have spoken to David (the other partner) about our conversation and we have decided to discontinue using your services. Please phone the office to arrange to pick up your personal belongings." No notice period - nothing! What a horrible, horrible guy! (And worse but this is a family show folks!)
Everyone I have spoken to agrees that it seems it is just for the money as he now gets out of paying me my Christmas bonus, my Christmas leave, and he hasn't paid my recruitment company yet either so he is trying to get out of that! Now, I am having to fight him just to get paid out the left over annual leave that I had and my one weeks notice which I am entitled to by law!! He is one nasty piece of work!
Luckily, every cloud has a silver lining and my recruitment agency have been wonderful. I was temping for most of last week and they got me two job interviews. And I now have a fantastic new permanent job! Yay! It is a fantastic opportunity as they are a huge global company! I am working as a Personal Assistant for the head of Corporate Finance. I am earning WAY more than I was!
My first day was yesterday and it was fantastic! Everyone is soooo nice and helpful and they took me out to lunch. Then, if that wasn't enough, one of the Partners received a HUGE hamper for Christmas which he decided to raffle off and I won it!! I told people that I shouldn't get it as I had only started but everyone insisted I take it as a welcoming gift! They are all sooooo nice and friendly! So I am loving my new job! Yay!
We are also getting on really well with our new French flatmates - they are fantastic and we all get along so well! Yay! Now we just need to help them find jobs so that they can stay in Ireland!
Anyway, better leave you with that saga for now as this is getting too long but I am sure we will have more interesting things to say again soon! xxx

Yay for you Bex - everything turns out well in the end. God doth hath a sense of humour - He doesn't close a door without opening a window! Happy Christmas to all!

Well done with recovering so quickly, and since you're in such a good mood now, would you mind turning off that music on your page, eeee gawd it's terrible!
