Happy Paddy's Day!
On Thursday, I experienced St. Patricks Day the true Irish way! Dublin is absolutely explosive (well, I was going to say "Buzzing" but it usually does that so whats the next level up from Buzzing?... explosive?). Well, explosive in terms of people, explosive in terms of atmosphere and lots and lots and lots!
They had set up a fair sorta thing at Merrion Square (where I live) with Fun Rides like a Ferris Wheel, Twister and the like. So I went by there first, got a great view from on top of the Ferris Wheel & even managed to win a teddy bear from one of the competitions - I felt bad winning it against little kids ... oh well, they have to learn how to lose sometime, I'm just glad I was there for them :-)
O'Connell Street was absolutely packed with people. People were on top of trees, traffic lights, statues, telephone boxes. Basically anything to get elevated because you just can't see the parade otherwise. I, of course, couldn't see jack as I strolled past on my way to Croke Park (Eden Park of Dublin) with my tickets to the Vodafone Corporate Suite (thats right baby! its who you know) to watch the club finals of Hurling & Gaelic Football (apparently the only day you'll see both sports played the same day in the stadium each year). The games were brilliant! I'd sooo love to play hurling sometime! After that was more drinking and more fun rides back at the fair. The usual :-)
And today (Saturday), they just had the biggest annual fireworks in Europe down at the river Liffey to celebrate it. It fully went on for ages! at least 40 mins I'd say. Quite a sight!!
Anyway, photos will follow next month (I've busted my limit this month already). Take care now.
NOTE : Photos are now available!!!
