Visitors, Back to Nature, and Some Time in Prison...

We have been lucky enough to have had loads of visitors over the last week or so. Last Wednesday my Kiwi Uncle Wayne arrived in Dublin with a couple of workmates and although he wasn't staying with us we managed to catch up with him a few times: dinner and drinks on Wednesday night and then briefly on Saturday morning and again Saturday night. Always good to see family!

On Friday evening Kath and Dave arrived back in Dublin after travelling around Ireland for the week. They stayed with us for the weekend and were blessed by fantastic weather the entire time!

Friday night was so beautiful that we took Kath and Dave out to Howth for a walk, a view of Dublin city from the top of the hill on the peninsula, and fish and chips sitting on the Wharf - bliss!

On Saturday we all drove down to picturesque Glendalough, stopping in little Enniskerry for lunch on the way. Glendalough is a lovely place in a valley in the middle of the Wicklow mountains with a couple of pretty lakes and loads of good walking tracks. A nice touch of nature!

On Sunday we thought that Kath and Dave had better see a bit of Dublin City so they hopped on a Hop-on-Hop-off City Bus Tour and we met them at Kilmainham Gaol (Jail in Irish). Kilmainham Gaol is quite a sobering experience, especially this close to Easter. 90 years ago many of the Irish 'rebels' were executed there for standing up for what they believed in. It is a good place to go to get some Irish history.

Sunday night was Kath and Dave's last night in Dublin so we took them to what we see as an essential part of Dublin: the Arlington Hotel for some Irish Dancing and Irish Music. Great craic!

Again, it has been a busy but fun time for Johnny and I and, as always, we love having visitors so we look forward to seeing more of you over this part of the world at some stage!
