Our Big OE

Wednesday, August 15, 2007

Well, since I started my new job back in June I've had to travel to a few beautiful places around Europe. Here's a quick post about them for you to be jealous and for me to brag :-)

Vienna, Austria (map)
Rebecca & I were here 3 years ago as part of our trip around Europe so I didn't expect to see too many new and exciting things here but Vienna still took my breath away!! I am not big on history now but you can tell from the architecture that Vienna was once a great empire (with lots of €€). The old buildings are preserved so well they look like they were built last year. The City Concert Hall, the Art Gallery Museum, the University ... the list goes on, and you can't help but 'WOW' at each building you see.

Our evenings there was a mixture of sitting on the banks of the river Danube enjoying the 25 - 30degree warm weather while sipping (maybe sculling is more accurate) White Wine Spritzers (White Wine + Mineral water) & walking about Stephensplatz looking at other tourists :-)

Den Haag, The Netherlands (map)
We flew into Amsterdam and caught a train to Den Haag (about 40kms south west of Amsterdam). My god is Holland an extremely flat country. Looking out from the train you can see for miles!!! canals after canals, people in there little boats floating about, either going somewhere or just enjoying the freedom.

We didn't get to see Den Haag that much as I was only there for a meeting in the morning but we did manage to get to this infamous Argentinian steak house where... drool drool, I had the BEST steak I've had in years!!! O M G!!!
