Sports!
Johnny and I have been keeping fit this Summer with various different sporting events that I thought I would mention:
I have been keeping up the running that I started doing with the Women’s Mini Marathon (10km). In July I ran a 5 mile race, completing it 44 minutes and 46 seconds and then in August I ran a 10 mile race in 1 hour, 39 minutes, and 32 seconds. Both times I bet what I was aiming for so I was very happy with that! I am doing a Half Marathon (13 miles) near the end of September though which is a bit scary but have just joined a running group that will hopefully have me ready for it by the time it comes around!
As well as my usual netball I have also been playing tag rugby this season and having been loving it despite playing in the pouring rain most weeks. Our season just finished and we came second in the league! We weren’t as successful in the recent KPMG Tag Rugby Blitz a couple of weeks back but we still had fun and I am sorry the season is over now!
Johnny has been getting in a bit of sport as well, playing in a beach volleyball competition down in Bray in July on one of the only sunny days we have gotten all “Summer” and also joining a nearby gym. We both also tried our hand at Touch Rugby a few weekends ago when we entered in a tournament. Although we lost 2 of our 3 games we had fun and are now considering joining a touch team!
It has been great to get out and about over the “Summer” and play a bit of sport but as it gets colder and darker here it will be harder to motivate ourselves to do it – must keep it up though so we look our best on our wedding day! ;-)
