Lime lime lime, more lime
Well, its been a week in Mexico City and I've learned to count from 1 to 6 (helped by 'Pretty Fly for a white guy' by Offspring) and to ask for the bill. The essentials really :-)
Going out for a drink here seems to involve a lot of lime or lemon as they call them here... no distinction between lemon & lime from what I can gather. A bowl of cubed lime is placed in front of you when you sit down. I wondered what they did with it at the start but then I was told it served many uses...
Something else I've noticed is there are a lot of the original VW Beetles around the city. Apparently when everywhere else stopped making them in the 80s, they kept making them here. And hence the abundance of them here used as cabs etc... while we are the subject, I've been warned not to take the Green Beetle Cabs here as they have a tendency to rip you off. So take that as an advice for when you come here too.
Street jugglers. You see them at some traffic lights. They juggle all sorts of things including flaming loops while the light is red for a few shiny pesos out of your pockets. Some even bring out their little kids (7-10 year-old) dressed up as clowns with 2 balloons down their pants to make them look like they have huge arses - I kept wondering if they blew up the balloons first then put it down their pants or do they put it down and then blow them up... hmm...
Oh! and talk about drinking games. While we were sitting at a restaurant having dinner & a few drinks, this guy was walking around holding onto 2 metal rods trying to earn a few pesos. Turns out the idea of the game, which you have to pay for, is to get one of your friends to hold onto one while you hold onto the other. Then the guys slowly cranks up the current until one of you can't hold onto it any longer. Sounds like a great game huh? sign me up!! :-D
Apart from that, we saw some really cool pyramids here in Teotihuacan (about 1hr out of town) today. These pyramids are built around 1-100 A.D & are vastly different to those in Egypt. I've posted the photos online so check them out!

1. To have with your beer. But not quite the lime in Corona way. What you do is you squeeze some lime juice into your glass, a few ligh dashes of salt, a bit of Clamato (tomato juice with some clam's/seafood blended in it), maybe a dash of chillies & then finally top it up with your beer. I was talked into trying it and I must say, its not too bad!
2. To keep the flies away. If you need to leave your bottled beer, you simply grab a lime and use it as a lid.
3. Obviously if you are adventurous enough to be having Tequila, you already know what its for.
