Ole!

Well only 5 days after I got back from South Africa I was off again! This time it was a weekend away in Madrid with the girls I play netball with: Sharon, Kelly, Bettina, Aoife and Deborah We flew out on the Friday night and back again to Dublin on the Sunday night.

Of course the fun started straight away on our flight over and it didn't stop the whole weekend! Although we got in late on Friday night we were straight out to grab some tapas and sangria and check out the local nightlife...



Saturday we took it easy, enjoyed our free breakfast of churros and hot chocolate before hopping on the hop-on-hop-off bus 'Madrid Vision'. One loop of it covered a lot of the main sights and we stopped off for a drink at the impressive Plaza Mayor before having a leisurely lunch at a yummy vegetarian restaurant. Back on the bus we finished the loop and went for a wander through Parque del Retiro before heading back to our B&B.



After a quick nana-nap and a lot of time getting ready we hit the town! A bit of wandering around found us a little local pub with some basic food to line our stomachs. Then it was off to the clubs and a great night drinking and dancing the night away in at least 3 different clubs.

It was a slow start for us in the morning but after a bit of sustenance (go the churros and chocolate!) we headed off to check out the HUGE markets that are on on Sunday. Most of us that could manage it had a wander around it and some made some purchases before we headed for the Palace and then on back to Parque del Retiro for a lie down in the sun.



The flight back to Dublin on Sunday night was a lot quieter for us than our flight over to Madrid and although we were six very tired women heading home we have lots of fabulous memories of a fun girls weekend away.
