Two Weddings & A Birthday All In One Long Weekend
The first Monday of August is a Bank Holiday in Ireland and boy were we kept busy for that Bank Holiday Weekend this year! It started off with my birthday on the Friday followed by two weddings (one on the Saturday and the other on the Monday) at opposite ends of the country! This meant a lot of driving, socialising and staying up late - all in all an exhausting but fun weekend!
Friday night saw us leaving work early and driving the 3 hour journey down to Cork where we stayed at the Walsh's house (even though they were away). Johnny treated me to a few sweet presents and a lovely birthday cake before the journey and of course I got the pick of DVD that night!
Saturday it was up bright and early for the first of the weddings...
Adrian & Aisling's Wedding
By now most of you will know that our surrogate family over here in Ireland are the Nixs. Therefore when the eldest son of that family, Adrian, got married to the mother of his two gorgeous twin girls, Aisling Ruane, of course we had to be there. In fact, not only did we attend and I did a Prayer of the Faithful but we also offered to be the videographers for the day which kept us very busy!
With the wedding in Mallow, Co. Cork (about a half hour drive from where we were Friday night) and the reception in Killarney, Co. Kerry (about an hours drive from the wedding) and a few photo stops along the way, there was lots of driving to be done indeed!
However, the day was absolutely fantastic. The weather ended up being lovely despite the huge down-pours the day before, the bridal party and all involved looked stunning, the speeches were brilliant and everyone looked like they had a brilliant time! We only got a few photos before the ceremony as the rest of the time we were stuck behind video cameras! Now we have the huge task of editing all that footage! For now you can check out our photos here:

We spent the night on Saturday at the hotel in Killarney where the reception was and the next day drove down to West Cork to see my rellies, most of whom had gathered at my Aunt and Uncle's house in Dunmanway for lunch. Having not seen most of them since January it was great to catch up with them all however we could only stay an hour or so before we had to hit the road once more - back up to Dublin for the night!
Su & Tom's Wedding
Bank Holiday Monday saw us heading up to Trim, Co. Meath (about 45mins drive North of Dublin) for the wedding of Susan Mackay & Tom Conlon. These are friends of ours whom I met when they lived in New Zealand years ago.
After the ceremony we headed further North to Kingscourt, Co. Cavan (about 2 hours North of Dublin) where the reception was held in Cabra Castle there.
This time Johnny and I could sit back and enjoy being simply guests at the wedding whilst catching up with Maureen Faber, a good family friend, and meeting some of Su and Tom's lovely friends. Again, the newly weds were blessed with the weather and everything went smoothly. A very fun day out! You can check out the photos here:

Whew! After that long weekend we were ready for another one! It was great though! :-)
