Man Who Walks Sideways Must...
Well we didn't have long in Taiwan initially! After a whirlwind 6 days in Taipei rushing around sorting visas, bank accounts, enrolling for my course etc. we were off again - this time to Bangkok! Johnny had one week of work there so of course I decided to tag along for a bit of a holiday - because I haven't had enough of those recently! ;-)
So we flew over on Monday 9th November and then back on Sunday 15th. Unfortunately Johnny was busy with work during the week and some evenings but I managed to have a bit of a look around - in between relaxing by the pool that is! I spent a lot of time exploring the HUGE shopping malls on their main shopping street, wandered around the nearby Patpong night markets on a few nights, and managed to get out to the interesting National Bangkok Museum where there are very, very many historical artifacts on show (only a small portion of which I was able to photograph).
Johnny was able to join me a few times so when he did we made the most of it by getting Thai massages (without the "happy ending"!), a fish spa thing (where the fish nibble on your feet and apparently get rid of the dead skin), and we spent a very hot, sticky day out exploring the absolutely AMAZING Grand Palace with the Temple of the Emerald Buddha then the Temple of the Reclining Buddha behind it. This visit was definitely a highlight for me - the temples are just incredible with their intricate and ornate detailing! WOW! I only regret that my camera battery died just before we reached the Temple of the Reclining Buddha so I have no photos of it.
Just before we flew back to Taipei we were able to catch friends of ours, Rachel and Sander, for a drink on the Saturday night. They had just arrived into Bangkok that night from Sydney and were only beginning their holiday as we were ending ours. We were lucky to catch an over-lap where we could meet for a quick drink and a catch-up! :-)
